Halo Top

Halo Top, the ice-cream that actually tastes like normal ice-cream. When it comes down to it, athletes or people who focus on a “healthy lifestyle” look for products that will fit into their daily diets the best – giving them more variety and of course hitting that ‘full’ feeling. Finding yummy food such as ice-cream is difficult because the ingredients are full of carbs and fat, which soaks up most of your calories for the day. If you’ve trained and dieted for a while you’ll know that quantity is more important than quality (aka) delicious, yummy, mouth-watering quality foods, like chocolate, are a no-go because 300g of broccoli is more satisfying to the stomach than a small serving of commercial ice-cream.

You’ll hear me say it over and over, that quantity is important but luckily for the athletes there, Halo Top has introduced something rather unique and special into our frozen section at the supermarket. You can, in fact, indulge in some delicious ice-cream and not use all your precious calories for the day.

So, the question is, what is it? How do I get my hands on this magical product? And, how is it different to regular ice-cream?

What is Halo Top?

In short, it’s ice-cream (obvs). However, what’s in the container is a delicious blend of organic sweetener (stevia), milk protein and many more ingredients that are surprisingly good and delicious. There’s no artificial sweeteners or synthetic growth hormones. It’s just all-around goodness that leaves your taste buds happy and satisfied.

Halo Top Flavours

Most of the time, people who watch their calories miss out on the tasty stuff or have to settle for the boring rip-off flavours that claim to taste normal but clearly don’t …

Halo Top has everyone’s taste buds sorted because there are 10 delicious flavours to choose from. So far, I have tried: Vanilla bean, chocolate, mint chip and birthday cake and I can say they’re light and fluffy and still tastes like ice-cream and when the sides melt – OMG, that’s actually the best part.

Halo Top

  1. Vanilla Bean
  2. Chocolate
  3. Lemon Cake
  4. Strawberry
  5. Mint Chip
  6. Peanut Butter Cup
  7. Sea Salt Caramel
  8. Birthday Cake
  9. S’mores
  10. Chocolate Almond Crunch

Which is my favourite? Easy … vanilla bean, followed by chocolate. I can’t wait to get my sticky fingers on all the flavours! To be able to choose from 10 flavours and fit it into my daily calorie count? It’s unbelievable!

What are the macronutrients in Halo Top?

It will probably shock you but a pint of ice-cream ranges from 240 – 320 calories. Let’s take a closer look:

Halo Top ice-cream: a 64g serving = 60 calories

Competitors ice-cream: 46g serving = 71 calories

If you decided to eat the entire container of ice-cream in one sitting (which is usually what I do because, honestly, you can’t stop yourself at one serve), it would only set you back (based on Vanilla Bean flavour):

Protein: 24g
Fat: 6g
Carbs: 44g

If you’re eating a standard 1800 – 2000 calorie diet, you would still have so many calories left over in the day to fill yourself up. Desert is sorted, your sweet-tooth cravings are sorted. So, what are you waiting for? Your only problem will be deciding what flavour to eat …
